1. All green everything
If you’ve had a look at the annual colour of the year palettes, there’s no doubt you’ve spotted all the shades of green and blue with a hint of warm neutrals. Where 2021 was the year of comfortable soft hues, 2022 brings us a bolder and brighter colour palette with nature as its inspiration.
Start off with a soft sage hue if you’re not a fan of the bold and bright. Otherwise, opt for a more saturated emerald green to energise your space. Want to give your chosen colour an additional sense of character? Try adding wall mouldings, they will change the look entirely and make the colour feel more dynamic.
2. Natural shapes
Think rounded and organic shapes, from sculptures to furniture to rounded walls and arches.

3. Tactile textures
If the lockdown has taught us anything, it’s that we want our home to be comfortable and cosy. In 2022 we’re going for soft materials and a variety of textures to create our own calming environment.

4. Paris je t’aime
Want a taste of Paris in your home?
Recreate the look and feel of a typical Parisian apartment with wall panelling. Look for existing architectural elements in the space, such as a mantlepiece or windowsills and start from there for a balanced composition.
Sketch a couple of designs first to see what suits the room best. You might want to highlight some sconces or a piece of art, or you may prefer a repetitive pattern. For the former, start by creating a frame around that element and work your way out from there, making the other frames narrower. As for the latter, you’ll want the frames to be the same width. Finish the design with matching cornice mouldings and ceiling roses for the additional wow factor.
One thing to always remember with classic wall panelling: symmetry and proportion are key!
