The levels of wallscaping

Wallscaping is more than decoration. It’s an architectural language. Depending on the desired atmosphere and degree of formality, mouldings can be applied in different intensities, ranging from subtle elegance to immersive architectural richness. Each level has its own character, proportions and rules.

Elegant

Subtle and timeless, elegant wallscaping enhances a room without dominating it. With clean panelling, refined chair rails and light mouldings, the result is an airy sense of structure.

By combining one cornice with one or two panel mouldings, you strengthen the architectural transition between wall and ceiling. By layering skirting with one or more panel mouldings, you can extend its height for a more refined effect.

Majestic

Majestic walls are bold and structured, perfect for adding depth and rhythm. A panelled effect defines the lower wall, framed with a chair rail as a natural finish.

The key rule: the chair rail should align roughly with the height of a chair and never exceeding one third of the wall’s total height. Lower placement is generally more elegant than too high.

Prestige

Prestige wallscaping is rich in detailing, with sculpted mouldings and larger panels that echo classical craftsmanship. To achieve harmony, align the panels with existing architectural elements such as doors, windows and wall divisions.

For a seamless effect: skirting, wall panels and the picture rail are placed directly against each other, with evenly spaced panels creating a rhythmic composition.

High class

High Class wallscaping represents a full architectural integration. Mouldings extend across the entire height of the wall, with a picture rail providing the final touch of proportion and balance.

For lower ceilings, align the picture rail with the top of the door frame. For higher ceilings, place it between the top of the door and the ceiling, ensuring the flow remains balanced.
