Door Frames, Architrave & Plinth Blocks.
Our door frame solutions centre around versatile architrave profiles, which can also be used as window architrave for a cohesive look throughout the home. To achieve a more traditional, craftsman-style finish, many customers choose to pair their architrave with plinth blocks. These are usually taller and thicker than both the skirting and the architrave, allowing the mouldings to meet cleanly without complicated mitre cuts.
You can browse each plinth block to see which architrave profiles it works well with. Alternatively, you can run the architrave directly to the floor without using a plinth block, just ensure the architrave projects slightly further from the wall than the skirting so the transition looks intentional.
Ceiling Roses & Architectural Details.
To bring depth and elegance to your ceiling design, our collection of ceiling roses ranges from ornate period styles to simple modern shapes. These pair beautifully with pendant lights, chandeliers and other statement fittings. For larger architectural statements, our range of pilasters, half and full columns, and their coordinating capitals and pedestals can be used to define entrances, frame alcoves or bring classical structure to open-plan spaces.
How do I choose the right ceiling rose?
Selecting the correct ceiling rose comes down to proportion. Consider both the size of your room and the scale of your light fitting. A large chandelier paired with a very small ceiling rose will look unbalanced, while an oversized rose can overpower a compact room. Aim for a combination where the elements complement each other without competing.
It’s also important to check the internal diameter of the ceiling rose. Your light fitting must sit comfortably within this space without cutting into the decorative design.
Do I need plinth blocks with my architrave?
Plinth blocks aren’t essential, but they offer a fast, professional way to finish a door frame. They remove the need for precise mitre cuts at the bottom of your architrave and help the architrave and skirting meet neatly. A good rule of thumb is to choose a plinth block that is slightly taller and thicker than both the skirting and the architrave.
If you prefer not to use plinth blocks, you can run the architrave directly to the floor, just make sure it sits slightly proud of the skirting for a clean, balanced look.
