Interior design trends 2023
New year, new walls.
But also, not really... Because we’re not ready to say goodbye to our 2022 interior trends just yet. Luckily for you and us, we don’t have to. Much like last year, 2023 is all about textured walls, sustainable material choices and rounded shapes. Let’s go over some updated and new interior design trends in the wonderful world of wall decoration.
1. Sustainably crafted
Sustainability is everywhere. Sustainable fashion, sustainable food sources, sustainable automobiles and even sustainable buildings. Unless you’ve been living under a rock (a sustainable choice, we might add) you know that us humans have been treating our planet badly. It’s time for that to change.
Furniture and wall decoration manufacturers over the world are researching new and more sustainable ways to produce eco-friendly goods. But the most important thing? It’ll sound super cliché, we know, but less is more!
The era of fast fashion and furniture is over. We’re now looking at qualitative, timeless design pieces that will last you a lifetime.
Welcome to the reduce, reuse and recycle era.

At Orac Decor we design for life. Making sustainable choices is in our DNA and we’re well on our way to become climate positive by 2050. Moreover we offer a lifetime warranty on our products if correctly installed. Read more about our path to a more sustainable future
. Because good for our planet, means good for everyone.

2. Arches and Alcoves
Rounded shapes are entering the new year with quite some 2022 baggage. All good things, of course, but where 2022 was more about soft shaped furniture and decorations, 2023 will be the year of arches and alcoves.
Open any social media app and you’re bound to find some DIY arched shelves, doorways, mirrors and more.
And luckily for you, finishing off those arches like a pro won’t be a problem thanks to our flexible wall mouldings. The FLEX technology allows our mouldings to bend in different directions so you can nicely trim off the edges of your arch. Achieve your desired look thanks to flex!
3. Neo Deco
They say all trends are cyclical, so I guess we’re more than ready for an Art Deco revival: the Neo Deco.
After the past sober (COVID) years, a Gatsby-era of hope and excitement feels like a welcome change. A repetition of the roaring twenties might not be in the cards just yet, but it most certainly won’t keep us from celebrating this iconic aesthetic.
So keep an eye out for bold geometric forms, rich materials and a mix of historic and futuristic elements.
And who knows, maybe even some additions to the 3D Wall Covering family? ;)

4. Layered lighting
If you ask us, lighting can make or break an entire living space. So one of the best design tips we could possibly give you is to layer your lighting. Think about integrating lights at different levels in the room.
Make use of indirect lighting profiles on your walls to create a soft, subtle glow that can instantly change the mood. Place them horizontally, vertically, as a downlighter or as an uplighter.
Where there are no walls, put a nice, eye-catching table lamp or floor lamp in the spotlight (get it?).
And the icing on the cake? Mirrors to reflect the lights.
5. Reinvented heritage
Old is new again. Blame it on the hipsters. No but seriously, we seem to be all holding on to history. Which isn’t a bad thing.
Circling back to our reduce, reuse and recycle attitude, we can only applaud vintage hunters and antique lovers. Mixing heritage and modern into contemporary classics. We see a trend of restoring old buildings to their former glory with new, stronger materials, designed to last.
People no longer cover their adorned walls with plasterboard. Instead they’re uncovering the beauty of wall panelling and ceiling roses. We couldn’t be prouder.
So next time your grandma gives you something, don’t throw it away. Give it a new personality.
