Our history

The Ostend Research and Applications Company or ORAC is set up in the city of Ostend on the Belgian coast. ORAC's original activities aimed to replace materials traditionally used in the furniture sector (wood) with advanced polymers.

ORAC nv/sa rapidly develops into the world's most innovative manufacturer of decorative ornaments. Over the years, many decorative and other elements are launched as part of the Orac Decor® collection.

ORAC nv/sa launches the revolutionary Orac Flex products, which are based on unique technology. Meanwhile, the international dealership network is set up step by step. We are proud of our partners and thank them for the support and enthusiasm they have shown over the past 30 years!

ORAC nv/sa sets up a new production unit and logistics centre in Slovakia to improve services in Eastern European countries.

ORAC nv/sa develops Duropolymer, a high-quality, light and budget-friendly material. As a result, the Duropolymer® collection is born.

The second generation of the family takes over the management.

The ORAC nv/sa office move to a brand-new building that also provides sufficient space for an extensive showroom and training facilities.

The ISO 14001 certificate confirms ORAC's great concern for the environment: the company invests in a large solar power plant and a recycling unit.

On Christmas Day ORAC’s founder Guy Taillieu passes away at the age of 76. Mr Taillieu was a true visionary, passionate about his business and the people in it. He will be greatly missed.
