How cornices help to bring balance to New Classics interiors

Interior design is all about harmony. The right proportions create a sense of calm and elegance, and that often starts with the details. We are proud to announce that Orac has officially received the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) certification for our site in Ostend. This achievement marks a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

What is Operation Clean Sweep?

OCS is a global initiative designed to prevent plastic pellets, flakes and powders from entering the environment.

By joining this program, companies pledge to implement best practices that ensure zero pellet loss, protecting waterways and ecosystems from microplastic pollution.

Why does this matter?

Plastic pellets can easily escape during production or transport, ending up in rivers and oceans where they harm wildlife and ecosystems.

By earning the OCS certification, Orac demonstrates that we take this challenge seriously and have implemented robust measures to prevent pellet loss.

What did we do to achieve this?

Our journey to certification

At Orac, sustainability is at the heart of how we design, produce and innovate. That is why we are proud to share that our very first CSRD report has been awarded Best First Sustainability Report at the Belgian Awards for Sustainability Reports 2025.

More than a recognition, this award confirms that we are on the right track: building a transparent, measurable and future-focused sustainability strategy that supports designers, architects and partners in making more informed choices.

What this recognition reflects

The jury highlighted the clarity of our approach, from the structure of the report to the way we map our value chain, identify our impacts and set ambitious, measurable targets.

Although Orac is not yet subject to CSRD requirements, we chose to align our first report with the principles of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards. This allows us to improve transparency, strengthen comparability and anticipate

Some illnesses aren’t always visible, but they are very real. This is the theme of De Warmste Week 2025, which focuses on people living with invisible illnesses, both physical and mental.

One of the beautiful initiatives supporting this theme comes from Keiem. In August, Comedy Keiem, in collaboration with Het Kakelend Kippenmuseum, organized a sold-out comedy evening featuring top comedian Steven Mahieu to raise funds for De Warmste Week.

The proceeds were further increased by Comedy Keiem, and thanks to Orac's support, the total amount was even doubled. Together, we proudly donate €1500 to De Warmste Week. A warm contribution to an important charity cause.

We are proud to share that Orac has been selected as a finalist for the Oostende Awards 2025 in the category “Most Beautiful Renovation and New Build”. This nomination is a recognition of the sustainable transformation of our industrial site in Ostend, where nature, art, and innovation come together in harmony.

More than 6,000 m² of land has been transformed from concrete and asphalt into green meeting and working spaces. With a 3,381 m² pocket forest, a 2,000 m² central woodland, and a total of over 11,000 planted plants, the site has become a place where biodiversity, well-being, and aesthetics reinforce one another.

Innovative measures such as the Japanese Miyawaki principle, multifunctional outdoor spaces, and the removal of over 1,000 m² of pavement illustrate our sustainable approach. In addition, a unique artwork by Hoxxoh, created in collaboration with The Crystal

Louise and Thomas fell in love with a stunning Art Deco home on Papegaaistraat in Ghent and embarked on a renovation journey to restore its original grandeur. One year later, their home is a seamless blend of historic elegance and modern refinement.

The entrance hall immediately sets the tone with its original tiled floor, beautifully preserved wooden doors and parquet flooring. These elements harmonize with sleek High Line skirting boards (SX181), enhancing the transition from floor to wall.

Only one room on the ground floor still had its original cornices. To bring this architectural detail back throughout the home, a combination of a cornice (C990) and a stepped panel mould (P9900) at both sides was chosen.

It creates a perfect link to Art Deco design.

In the downstairs study, where natural light is scarce, indirect lighting was used to accentuate the height of the room and enhance the mouldings. This subtle glow creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, while

Burlington embodies the refined grace of British interiors, where history and balance shape every detail. Grounded in tradition, this style draws on symmetry and understated grandeur to craft spaces that feel timeless yet alive. Burlington invites designers to reimagine classic interiors, weaving tradition with modern materials and unexpected contrasts to create effortlessly inspiring spaces.

A symphony of layers

Wallpaper creates an opportunity to redefine how walls interact with architectural elements. Pairing bold patterns or subtle textures with mouldings allows designers to create depth, frame focal points, or establish contrast. A well-chosen wallpaper can highlight the clean lines of cornices or panels, adding personality without overpowering the design.
